Online Lesson Plans - Please note that these lesson plans may be downloaded in pdf form from the lesson plan's page.

Is It Possible To Share History - Project: As American As Apple Pie
Students are asked to retell facts they have learned about American history. They will synthesize the information to write articles that will be published in a class newspaper. This lesson will help students learn the features of expository writing, as well as how to develop nonfiction writing that is both historically accurate and appealing to the reader. Students will learn how to use Microsoft Word to layout their newspaper.

How Can One Letter Go To 50 Different People - Project: Career Network
Students are asked to create at least two cover letters. Although some of the information may be similar in each cover letter, a customized cover letter should show that you know something about the company and the industry. This lesson will help students write their cover letter. It also teaches them how to write one letter that can be personalized to multiple addressees, using the Mail Merge feature of Microsoft Word.
Maps That Narrate History - Project: This House Divided
A map can provide a great deal of information quickly and efficiently to the reader. In this lesson students will research the politics of the years preceding the U. S. Civil War. They will understand that the rapid expansion of the United States was, in part, responsible for an increase in tension between “free” and “slave” states. By creating a detailed map, students will demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between geography and politics during this time period.

Turn It Off - Project: The Energy Effect
Students will synthesize data from their home energy audits with research from various sources. They will develop a list of specific energy-saving tips and create a brochure designed to persuade friends and family to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
